Mr. Clean is hot..

Mr.Clean, also known as Veritably Clean, made his debut in 1958. He was drawn by Ernie Allen of the Tatham-Laird & Kudner advertising agency. Originally, he was going to be shown as a United States Navy sailor, but the idea was changed. Though his motto has varied throughout the years, he is still as tough on grime and dirt as ever and can be seen on TV often. :D

Edith Lebeau

Edith Lebeau grew up in Beloeil, a little town of Quebec, Canada. Her mother and father are also artists. This helped her to explore her own imaginary world and inspired her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts at l'Université du Québec à Montreal where she graduated in 2005. Edith's work often refers to Greek, Roman, and Celtic mythologies, movies, and fairytales.

Mimi Scholz

Mimi Scholz is a digital artist and was born in Berlin in 1974. In her early childhood days she started to draw, influenced by her beloved mother, who was an artist herself. After graduation, she worked as a character designer and illustrator on several animation projects for the film industry. However, her true passion was always illustrating solely her own ideas and figures. She loves to draw girls with a special attitude and allure, an obstinate personality and a strange beauty, which seems to appear in a certain, grotesque way.

Chiara Bautista

It's always exciting viewing illustrations by Chiara Bautista who also goes by the name Milk. Her style of imagery suggests this is lowbrow art. Her work overlaps with fetish in a very unique and subtle way. Seemingly, each and every character she creates is rapped up in a world of emotions and curiosities. Check out her Myspace page to see more of her work.

Isabel Samaras

Isabel Samaras is best known for lush and meticulously painted of pop culture icons of the '70s. Her ribald images are a form of visual story telling – witty, mysterious, and tender, woven with references to classic horror movies, ancient mythology, cheesy television, and childhood fables. Her painted narratives revolve around issues of secret love, unrequited lust, and making things end the way we wish they would.

Fafi-licious!

Fafi was born and raised in Toulouse, France. Her strong influence in the graffiti world brought about a new trend in feminine stereotypes. They were first spotted on her hometown walls in 1994 and what makes it all the more lovely and hardcore is that she paints mostly with a brush and not spray paint. Rock on!

She is also known for collaborations in 2007 with MOB clothing line and MAC Cosmetics, along with numerous collaborations in sportswear and a collection of her own each year.

By the way, she has a BLOG!

Zhang Peng

Zhang Peng was born in 1981. He lives and works in Beijing. Zhang Peng’s photography takes young, vulnerable chinese women and girls as it's central theme. There is a profound sense of sorrow and empathy that is evoked in his haunting images of doll-like girls sitting timidly on richly-colored settees and in bloody bathtubs. Their indescribable expressions of hurt and vulnerability leave the viewer unsettled, disconcerted and heavy hearted.

The Love Curse of the Rumbaughs

I read this book in the summer of 2008. The only reason I picked it up in first place is because I immediately recognized the artwork on the front of the cover that was done by Ray Ceasar. The book was written by Jack Gantos and I have to admit that it is a really good book. It is recommended for young teens, but I believe anyone can read it. The book is about a little girl named, Ivy and her devout mother who live across the street from a pair of reclusive, elderly twin brothers who run a pharmacy. Her mother used to work for the Rumbaughs, and, over the years, Ivy comes to understand her connection to the eccentric men, their deep bond with their now-deceased mother, and their fascination with the art of taxidermy, which they share with her. Soon Ivy finds herself engrossed in embalming squirrels, kittens, chickens, and whatever else she can get her hands on. They become her tools and totems to assuage her maternal-loss anxieties. Readers can only fumble and squirm through her distorted yet straightforwardly told horror story with a combination of shock, disbelief, and dread of what no doubt will come. The book features a short quote which I find very true.

What people can't control, seems to control them.
The more they fight, the more they fail.
For some, if it is not a bright sunny sky, they don't see the beauty in the sky at all.
When they don't get what they want, they can't appreciate what they are given.

Cris de Lara

Cris de Lara is well known for being one of the best digital pin up artists due to her beautiful, detailed, and unique images. Her style and colors are vibrant, vivid, and eyecatching. She is a versatile artist that works in different styles of drawing and painting such as comics, cartoons, realistic portraits, and caricatures. She founded her own company in 1995 with her partner Alexandre Stockler to do DTP and Graphic Design, but in 2004 she decided to work only with illustrations and digital painting prioritizing children illustrations and pinups images. So they changed the company's name to Artepixel Illustration and Digital Painting. In 2008 she moved with her family from Brazil to Canada where she is working as freelancer.

Glamour Cheese

Tony Kelly is a Dublin-born photographer with an eye for 'transgressed boundaries' in the world of beautiful people and their 'ugly emotions'. In 'ferocious color' he executes his visions precisely and represents the fashion world the way we all wish to see it. Somewhat unattainable and a fantasy of skin, liquor, and smoke filled hotel rooms.

Michael Mararian

Michael Mararian possesses a poetic propensity for taking traditionally cheerful images and concepts and turning them into frightening, yet humorous, tableaus. Focusing on children as the last bastion of innocence, Mararian draws on a diverse range of influences to deliver the peculiar ink work he aptly calls M. Mararian's Inky Dreadfuls. In this world, our fondest visions of childhood's naiveté are darkly rearranged to uncover lost innocence and the fear of our modern times. Though often shroud in the macabre, Michael's ink paintings are also suffused with asense of mischievous, almost self-deprecating humor. What can on one level be construed as melancholy and cruel, can alternately be viewed as amusing, even charming. He enjoys letting his viewers decide.

" Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus "

With a star-studded cast like this, I don't think I could have kept this movie a secret for THIS long. Magic returns again this holiday season with enough prescence to brighten the cosmos once more. The film was directed by Terry Gilliam and although Heath Ledger has passed on, the film was finished with Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell taking Ledger's role in three trips to make-believe realities. Each will donate their salaries to Heath Ledger's daughter. Isn't that wonderful?

Frustration Attraction..

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Heidi Taillefer began drawing at the age of 3, and was brought up in a rich family in creative talent. Always attracted to the bizarre and unusual, she was fascinated by strange animal specimens and haunting turn of the century side show oddities. Frustration Attraction is a painting which depicts Salome holding the head of John the Baptist in her hands. Despite her longing for him, he remained unattainable due to a conflict of ideological principles. The only way she could satisfy her desire was to have his head brought to her on a platter, where she could finally kiss her would-be lover’s lips. The painting is about unrequited and courtly love, where distance increases desire.

Sean remains disillusioned and somewhat distant from Teddy (now played by Rose McGowan), despite their seemingly flourishing relationship.
